Temples Temples Temples! Siem Reap was incredible! filled with amazing buildings and and an eclectic range of temples. My favourite temple would have to have been Bayon (image 1 and 2) with it's incredible architecture and natural ambiance. Less touristy than Angkor Wat! However it is hard to not fall in love with the world renowned Angkor Wat (image 8). Despite the large amount of tourists and our failed attempt to see a sunrise at 5am it was no doubt surreal! The perfect photography opportunity if looking for a new desktop background! Ta Prom another must see! The temple is famous for being in the film Tomb Rater and we definitely felt connected to Angelina Jolie as we stood in front of the tree where she once stood! (image 9)

Other than being a mainstream tourist, capturing the essence of the diverse temples, we had the opportunity to donate water filters to villages outside of Siem Reap where clean water was scarce. We were greeted by the excited families who, as a thank you gift gave us hand crafted baskets which had taken them up to 4 days to make! (battled to get them through Australian customs but in the end were successful!) I also made some new friends! (images 5 and 6)

Finally! Party goers/ backpackers/fun seekers! -> PUB STREET is a must visit! Pub Street in Siem Reap is one street that contains all the epic bars/clubs/restaurants/cheap massage salons and is full of young travellers. The end of the street links to the night markets which are also worth a look!

So in summary Siem Reap is epic and i will definitely go back when i'm of age to hit up Pub St!
take your time soaking up the ambiance of the temples and Khmer culture because trust me you will be highly nostalgic on return!

Stay close for Cambodia Part 2 - Phnom Penh!
